Solidly ok. The food is good the service is intermittent. I like it some days and other times not as much. My last experience was with the Ruben sandwich and the 5 year old for a Monday lunch. The bartender served us and was friendly. The food was adequate. The child's food was well priced and he enjoyed it. What I am trying to say is there is just not a lot to be said about Shannon's.

This is a decent little Irish-style pub in downtown Glen Ellyn, with the usual dark wood, Irish menu items, and Irish beer. I killed 2-1/2 hours in this place three days before Christmas while I was waiting for my husband to finish up a Christmas bike ride. That was long enough for me to nurse an Irish coffee, two pints of Guinness, and a plate of home-style fried chips with a sweet-spicy honey curry dipping sauce. I had a little table all to myself right in front of the window where I had a good view of the Christmas decorations and window dressings on Main Street. The place started to fill up as time went by (lots of families with little kids), but my waitress never forgot to check in on me and see if I needed anything else. When my husband showed up, I wouldn't have minded staying longer, but we had someplace else to go. All in all, a nice little neighborhood bar.

The only thing I miss about working in Glen Ellyn is my lunches at Shannon's. Every soup they make is amazing! If you happen on the Monday special of BBQ Pulled Turkey, it's out of this world! The wait staff are all friendly and wonderful.

This place is convenient to us and the food can be ok but service has left lots to be desired. Our last visit was really horrible. First, our menus were caked with food. We asked to sit in a secluded and darker corner but then discovered, after my wife sat down, that the chair was covered in a puddle of some liquid. She was soaked. Gross. Beware of where you sit!

Nice place to get a pint. Friendly staff, decent food. Menu maybe a tad limited, but tasty. Nice warm pub atmosphere, and big expanded party area in back. One or our regular spots for quick bite after work.

Well I wasn't impressed. Food was blah, nothing special, the fish sandwich was just fish sticks piled on a hamburger bun, our potatoe skins were lacking potatoes and toppings. It was more like half a potato with a sprinkle of cheese. The service was just OK and there was a very rotten smell coming from the hallway near the restroom. I would think with that kind of pricing we would have gotten something better... I won't go back and I don't suggest.

We were on the quest for a good corned beef sandwich. Our stand-by in Arlington Heights closed about 2 years ago and we have not found a replacement for it. Sadly, Shannon's was not it. We had the crabcakes for an appetizer. They were large and flat like potato pancakes, and really fragile. They fell apart just trying to get them onto the plate. They were good but nothing out of the ordinary. The homemade tartar sauce was also nothing noteworthy. I think we should have gone with the corned beef loaded potato skins instead. The potato/corned beef soup was really good, but it was chips of corned beef in the soup kind of like what is left on the cutting board after you slice up a corned beef. It would have been better if there were a few larger chunks of beef in the soup. It did give me a new idea for a winter soup though. I don't know what it is, but there was something missing form the corned beef sandiwch - it just lacked flavor. It was a generous size sandwich and I liked that I could have champ with it. I would like to come back for fish and chips or maybe Shepherd's pie. Service was good and the place was cozy warm on a unseasonable VERY cold day.

If you're looking for authentic pub food yet aren't planning a trip to Ireland anytime soon, Shannon's is a great place for a relatively inexpensive, high quality meal. From the fish & chips, to Mary Murphy's sandwich, to the grilled salmon, corned beef and cabbage, chicken and avocado sandwich, the key lime pie and carrot cake -you're going to be happy! Never had anything on the menu that wasn't up to par.

Went for a business luncheon. I had the turkey burger with chopped peppers and salad on the side. Considering it was just ground turkey, it was very flavorful. Unfortunately, my colleague had the Reuben sandwich and didn't think it was that good. Service was efficient and got us in and out in a reasonable time. I might stop by after work to enjoy a couple of pints.

Yelp, you nailed it. Shannon's Irish Pub is just "A-Ok." My friends and I were bar hopping in Glen Ellyn this past Saturday for St. Patrick's Day. You would think that being an "Irish" pub you may have jazzed it up and put out some more decorations? I mean the bartenders in green sparkly wigs were okay, but that was as festive as you get? I would think that you'd be going all out celebrating heritage. No? Eh. . I was part of a large group of friends, and we were all standing huddled around a single pub table. Huh? C'mon. . It wasn't until my boyfriend went to the bathroom did any of us even know about the huge back room. That would have been more helpful than the dirty looks we were given by one of the bartenders. Once we did move back there, I got the impression that we were an inconvenience for Shannon's. No one wanted to come wait on us, so we took turns trekking to and from the bar for drink orders. And then no one on staff seemed to know how to turn on the space heaters. When someone was found who did, the three surrounding us were out of gas. Odd and off putting. The beer was average. Nothing too great, and the "red-headed slut" shots were tasty, but not good enough to keep our group from walking over to the Tap House to get our drink on.

When I have been with my husband the food and service are great. Unfortunately the last two times I tried to take my family, the place has been empty and yet they turn us away saying they cannot accommodate. Odd.

Nice local place to go in and have a pint. Usually a good amount of regulars there around happy hour. Not that they have a happy hour --- do they? I often went in with my computer and wrote. Service is a little spotty; there were times I would sit for way too long, waiting for my check. Bar staff is good, welcoming, accommodating. Lots of good back and forth between staff and customers. Pleasant overall. Food could be better. Never really went to Shannon's for the grub. I do like the chips, though; they're addicting.

Shannon's isn't anything special. It's your standard Irish pub imitation, straight down to the wooden decor and low lighting. I would get over the general homely person nature of this restaurant if the service were even mediocre, but it isn't. The service is terrible here. I've been here several times with large groups that have reserved the back porch area and the service was still horrible. Every time I've gone to Shannon's, I hope that they treat me better. I feel like its emotionally-neglected spouse after our 25th wedding anniversary. Most of their food is bland, luckily it's not all that expensive. Their beer selection isn't anything to write home about. They carry basically everything you would expect a suburban knock-off Irish pub to carry; no surprises or hidden gems here. Shannon's isn't a horrible place to have a drink or two if you don't mind neglectful service from ornery wait staff. But if you can go elsewhere, please do so.

The back area has a fire place and lawn furniture. During the holidays they have Christmas lights all over. Its very cozy and relaxing. The food is great. You can order several different items and just go to town. The servers were a little hard to flag down sometimes but once you get your food, you are set for a while. Good selection of beer. Not a terribly long list but if you are going to a pub you don't need a whole lot. I can go other places for that, this places does well at what it does. Good Irish food, beer, and atmosphere.

GO TO SHANNON'S. 1. Order the Bookmaker sandwich. 2. Wash it down with a Guinness(es) 3. Take shots of whiskey. 4. Thank me.

A large group of friends met here for drinks after work, and the service COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER! We had reserved a table in the back room, which is an enclosed patio, and the staff suggested we might want to be inside instead, as it was cold out. But they had the room all set up, with a roaring fire and six propane heaters, AND they had tables reserved inside, too. Very thoughtful. Then the waiter asked if we wanted separate checks. We only ordered appetisers (great nachos) and drinks, but all were very good. We'll be back. The service was so good we left bigger than usual tips. Thanks, Shannon's.

I had the fish and chips, my daughter had the tuna melt, my hubby had the hanger steak, and my kids had pasta. Everything was amazing, and the hanger steak is the BEST steak I've ever had. Service was great and we can't wait to go back!

It's a quaint little pub, nestled innocuously in downtown Glen Ellyn, which is an understated neighborhood. The atmosphere is definitely there for this place. It's small, dark and welcoming. Service is top notch, with an attentive wait staff and a kind crew behind the bar. I can't speak to the night crowd here, having only ever visited during the day, but it's never been crowded, loud or hard to carry a conversation. The food is good, generally well prepared. I suggest the corned beef burger, which is a unique burger made of blended ground and corned beef. It's delicious. The only thing that keeps them from recieving a five from me is the beer selection. They've got the general Irish fare, but not much else.

It's a little disheartening to write a three-star review for a three-star place. I mean, just look at that bell curve of a ratings distribution! But really, it's hard to go anywhere else. If I could give half-stars, I wouldn't here. 3.00 stars for me. I suppose the lousy service could be blamed on the triple-digit heat, but it wasn't particularly hot in Shannon's, with its dark wood, pleasant lighting, and bar that sits angled within the tight front room. My wife and I did not feel welcomed by the server. She served us, she eventually came around to replace the half-eaten (or so it appeared) pickle that appeared on my plate, she gave us the check. But there was no warmth there at all, even on a hot day such as this. What struck us right away with the place was the smell. We were told that there was a special on a half-order of the fish fry, and though I didn't see anyone eating fish, the smell of the place would lead you to believe that everyone was chowing down on it. The smell was less "fried fish" and more "fresh fish" to my wife. Oh well, better than old fish smell. My wife's salad, called "Boru Chopped Salad," had lots of crumbled feta and Craisins on top. That part was fun to eat. But once you get past it, you see the lack of walnuts, the copious amount of iceberg lettuce - the American of cheeses, the Red Delicious of apples - and the apple-honey dressing that had the thickness of pudding, it left something to be desired. My wife thinks that the salad did the trick, but she'll get something different next time if we return. I went with "Nor's Chicken Avocado Sandwich." It was the highlight of the trip. Within a tasty and half-crispy-half-chewy tomato bread roll were a smallish piece of chicken, nicely grilled, with a decent amount of fine avocado, cheddar cheese and pesto mayo. This I would get again, but not with the fries. Ugh, steak fries. Again, the worst of its kind about there. When marketers try to get patrons to buy a lousy version of a food staple, they give it a clever name that makes people want it. They either go ironic (Red Delicious apples), patriotic (American cheese) or adventurous (iceberg lettuce). Too often, steak fries are either undercooked and cold or overcooked and dry. Shannon's fries were on the dry side. They offered mashed and cole slaw. I chose poorly. One nice thing about the receipt is that we can get $5 off a $25 purchase at their butcher shop in Lombard. Like all butcher shops, it's good quality but at a high price. They love their burgundy pepper hangar there, and the hangar is on the menu here. I did order it once and found it to be good but not worthy of the accolades I had heard at the butcher shop. It's a different cut of meat, hangar is. It's bent and wiggly when you get it. It lacks coarseness. It can have a feeling of rare meat, even when it's cooked more thoroughly than that. Not my thing, but it was good for what it represents. They have a nice outdoor section in the back, which would not have been nice today, though it probably would've smelled less fishy there.

I used to love Shannon's but the food now seems mediocre and the service is spotty and disinterested...too many better options in downtown Glen Ellyn.

Good food, but everything is very overpriced. Combine the expense with the snotty, I'm-too-good-for you atmosphere, and we'll never be returning here again.

I've had two amazing things at Shannon's- the corned beef burger (corned beef AND regular beef) and the corned beef egg rolls. Both of these are FABULOUS and why I keep coming back! The major down side to the restaurant is that even though smoking isn't allowed inside, it always smells like smoke inside! It took us until our second visit that the reason is because the windows aren't keeping the smoke smell out (and it really doesn't help when the windows are open!). The restaurant is really small, so the smell permeates pretty quickly. The service was good, the bar is tiny and cute...I'd go back when I'm in that area, but it's not a restaurant I'll seek out due to the smoke smell issues.

I went for a 40 mile bike ride and this pub was at the halfway point. I had the chopped salad which was large and pretty good - nothing to write home about. I sat at the bar. The service was inattentive and not particularly friendly. I had a Harp with my meal and asked for water twice but never got one. It was 90 degrees so the water would have been nice before riding home. There are better Irish pubs out there.

Enter into a dimly lit room; I see a back area that basically doubles the size of the establishment. I walk right up to the older gentleman at the hosting station and he asks me where I want to sit. Of course the Winter XGames are on so I sit where I can see the most televisions. It takes a while to get my server,Brian, to entertain my appetite, but I believe that is because the host didn't tell him there was a new guest. After that I had great service (it wasn't too busy, but there were at least 20 patrons in the front area, and many more who left later from the back room). The host quickly turned the television closest to me to the XGames per my request. The food was really tasty. Calamari was cooked perfectly; not raw, not rubbery. I tried the Burgundy Pepper Hanger Steak and it was friggin' great though a bit underdone. Brian also recommended I try the encrusted mash potato.... OH MY GOD yum (I think they are cooked, mashed potatoes lightly breaded and deep fried until golden brown).

Lived in the Glen Ellyn area for years and the family regularly stopped in for meals here from its opening in 2001 until we relocated a few years ago. I make stop ins when back in the area to have Guinness or two with friends. The food and beer selection is good. While this is not by any means the best Irish pub I have been in the menu has a good number of authentic menu items. The kids always have a few items they like and the wife enjoys it too. What I enjoy the most is that it is a place that draws in many local people you want to see out and about. It is a great place to watch a game or just meet up with friends for drinks on a few minutes notice. The patio out back is a great place to have an event. I have been there for multiple different gatherings there and it is always a good time.

Great traditional pub! Bartender knows how to serve Guinness the right way. I recomend the Reuben and the chicken cottage pie. Mmmmmm!

Solid 3 stars. Food is decent for bar food. I would not go out of my way to eat dinner here but it's a decent place to meet with friends and have few beers. Service is average.

This restaurant was in the right location for a Friday lunch after a morning concert with my fellow violinists. Three of us ordered the tuna melt, (being a Friday during Lent), which came with a delicious and fresh salad. I had the apple vinegar dressing, which was very good. One of us ordered the potato corn beef soup, which smelled and looked wonderful. She also ordered a very meaty, old fashioned corn beef sandwich. However, it was not a lean sandwich, which I would have preferred. With the decor and Irish Pub kind of restaurant this would be a great place for after work to have a beer and appetizer or fish and chips on a Friday night. I think this is a little gem in Glen Ellyn.

I truly hesitate to write this review for fear of Shannon's getting the dreaded "Yelp effect" and becoming over-run with commoners. It's lovely. The owner, wait staff, bartender-- everyone. Lovely. I'm from Glen Ellyn originally, and live in LA now. Yet my wife and I make it a point to visit Shannon's whenever we visit family back home. They've really done an excellent job making it feel so warm and familiar, almost like something out of a Tolkien story. Food: the Chicken Cottage Pie is fab, as is the Fish and Chips. Not so keen on the Guiness-cooked shrimp, but what do you expect? It's pretty niche. The beer garden in the back is great for families with kids.

I've been to Shannon's a few times. I'm Irish. And I just can't get enough of that corned beef and cabbage. However I could probably due without the little ramekin of melted butter they bring you with your meal (because I tend to dip every single potato in it!) I see some of the other reviews complaining that it's not authentic Irish. And I agree. But honestly, did I expect to be transported back to the homeland when I entered their doors? No. I like to sit outside in the back in the permi-tent next to the fireplace. I haven't been there yet in the summer but I hear they take off the enclosure and you can sit in the fresh air. I can't wait to check that out! The staff is friendly. The atmosphere feels like a hometown joint. I will continue to visit. Usually after a meal and a few drinks, a group of us heads to Curly's down the road. I like to sit outside in the back in the permi-tent next to the fireplace. Still a great meal! I felt the need to update my review of Shannon's because I noticed I didn't mention in my two prior reviews that they have the BEST Fish N' Chips I've had at any Irish Pub (American Style) in the Chicagoland area. Since that's the only thing I get when I go to an IPAS that says a lot!

Just this past weekend I took out some friends who were visiting from out of town. To give a little background story, I did have a few other dining experiences at Shannon's prior to this particular visit. The service was actually pretty good leading up to this last experience. We received exceptionally poor service from the beginning (trying to order drinks and appetizers) to the end (trying to receive the check). It took forever to simply get our waiter's attention. Once we got his attention we did not receive our requests for food or drinks for what seemed like at least 20-30 minutes on several different occassions. Not to hate on my fellow male counterparts but I would grade this waiter's performance a generous F. Everyone else at Shannon's I would give an A or better. Love the restaurant and the food but I would recommend staying away from the young, confused male waiter.

I begin my review with a caveat: I'm of Irish descent so I'm susceptible to liking Irish pubs more than I should. And Shannon's is quite like the pubs in Ireland, unlike many so-called Irish pubs in this area, so I like it even more. But, I think even the non-Irish (poor souls) would like this place. It has a homey feel to it and the food is better than what you'll find at most pubs, and it's reasonably priced. Plus, they know how to poor a draft there, which is always appreciated. The service staff is young so make sure they understand what you want and call ahead for seats because it's not very large place, although the cozy atmosphere adds to Shannon's charm. In short (like leprechaun short), it's a cozy, friendly Irish pub with above average food and pints that are poured just right. Check it out.

The blue cheese burger was very tasty, the fries were soggy. Service was ok, we had a large group. We called ahead, and got seated within a reasonable time since another large group was finishing up, not sure we would have been that lucky everytime. Waiter never brought the second beer I had asked for, but we were not charged for it .

The absolute best part about my experience here was the horseraddishy bloody mary which was absolutely perfect. I highly recommend. The nachos were surprisingly decent -- because, well, this isn't a place I'd normally go looking for nachos. I'd come back if suggested.

Pretty good for a pub in the 'burbs. They have good food, good beer and most importantly, a good patio in the back. The sandwiches are very generous and so are the salads. They are nice to kids, but don't have any coloring books or anything like that. I just met a friend there for lunch (with my kid) and they let him kind of walk around and look out the windows at the trains. They also were great about bringing me the extra plate for him, (in my book they have to be 3 before I buy them their own meal), some places are snooty about it. This is located in downtown Glen Ellyn so you have to park on the street or the Municipal Lot a few door down. Limited parking is kind of a novel idea to us in the 'burbs.

Shannon's is just your basic neighborhood bar. As you enter the place you are greeted by the smell of old vomit and something similar to sweat. The front of the bar/restaurant is dim and not very lively on a Saturday night...probably because of the smell. I was walked to the back of the place to a permanent tented area with a fireplace and several tables. I kind of liked it back there. Waiter was slow and forgetful without much enthusiasm. He forgot my drink twice and only checked on us once during the entire meal...he did finally end up bringing my water at the same time as the check though. The appetizer "chips" were pretty good with the curry sauce, but the dinner was bland. I had Shepherds Pie that looked nice but wasn't seasoned at all. There is also supposed to be lots of root vegetables included in the pie, but all I got were carrots and mushrooms. My girlfriend ordered Bangers and Mash. The mashed potatoes were similar to Hungry Man instant potatoes and the bangers (Irish Sausages) were Knackwurst or Bratwurst...not the sausages that are supposed to come with that meal. Dinner was a sad attempt at an Irish meal. Ambiance-Nice...except for nasty smell in the front as you walk in. Bathrooms-stunk like sewage. They need a plumber out there ASAP. Overall cleanliness-good To sum it up...if you are drinking there and happen to get hungry and don't care what the food tastes like...eat here. Otherwise, skip this place.

We've dined at Shannon's several times over the years. While the cuisine hasn't been the best I've ever had, typically it's been your typical pub fare done fairly well. However, the last time we were there, while the cabbage potatoe soup was good, the pulled pork special was a disaster. The meat literally smelled bad and was slathered with a bottled bbq sauce and overall it was just GROSS. I will say that they did take it off of the bill but I will not be back as clearly the meat had gone bad but it was served anyway.

Food is average. Service is TERRIBLE ! Always slow. Attitude...maybe because it's locally owned they don't care. Moved from out of town. Had a GREAT Irish pub where I lived (Michigan). Am so disappointed. Been there 3X just to see if I caught them on a bad night. Every night appears to be a bad night. Won't go back again.

A nice beer garden that's heated and covered in the winter offers a chance to get away from the smoky bar. They have hand cut chips (the fried kind, not the brit version) with a honey curry dipping sauce that's addictive. Aside from being your standard pub, there's nothing special about this place. A friend of mine was planning a celebration there. She got there an hour early and let them know we had a large party coming. I guess they told her there was another party that was going to be in the back. She said, "that's ok, we'll stay away from them, we'll be up here." and they told her the party would be up front. So she asked where they wouldn't be. They said the party of 20 would be everywhere, they'd move around. Basically, she got thwarted on a weekday evening when they weren't busy otherwise, because there was another largish group. Poor showmanship, Shannons. Santa Fe next door, which was markedly more crowded was a thousand times more accommodating.

  • Paula S.

The food is "OK" but the service is sometimes bad, especially if you sit in the back (they tend to "forget" that people are back there). One time my husband and I went there for dinner on a Friday night and they were out of Fish & Chips -- at 5pm!! It was good when it first opened but it's become "OK" since.

meh. Go to Cab's next door or the mexican restaurant on the other side. The bartender couldn't make a cosmopolitan to save her life. Also, Joseph M is right about the staff not being very friendly. Only to regulars, I guess.

A decent pub right in the center of town. They have some authentic Irish dishes and regular bar food. Nothing spectacular. Good prices.

I have never been disappointed here! Great service, cozy atmosphere and delicious food. Good beer selection as well. I've been here with just my husband, on a double date and in a large group, and every time the service has been really good. Try the Blarney Burger and make sure to order the champ as your side!

Like the patio. Thumbs up fish-n-chips. Bloody Mary recipe is bad news. Lots of kids and a good percentage of suburban bums. Bums with jobs. Workin' for the weekend.

I have a thing for the Shannon's salad, the dressing is pungent so not to everyone's taste. I like the grilled tuna sandwich when it isn't over-cooked. I love that i can get a generous side of salad with the generous sandwich instead of fries. I'm not a drinker and pubs generally do not appeal to me. But, here I enjoy the year round back patio and find this to be a good place to take people who aren't so adventurous in their dining habits. I think they do what they do quite well.

My friend Mike and I went here for dinner tonight, because he wanted meat! How is it then I ended up with the steak, and he had Irish Stew? We will never know. Began with Chips and honey curry sauce. Yum! Love those fresh fried tater chips. As I said earlier, I had the sliced tenderloin, with the mashed potatoes, and steamed broccoli.Mike had the Irish Stew. Both were outstanding. Service was good, prompt and friendly, and although not too busy on a Monday night, there were a bunch of locals eating when we arrived. When we left an hour later, the place was almost empty. We will definitely come back another time.

Really liked this place, just off the bike path in downtown Glen Ellyn. Beers on tap are OK - about what you'd expect for an Irish pub, heavy Euro focus, which is sort of unremarkable but OK. The service was quick and expressive. We added the homemade chips to our meals for a small fee at waitress' recc, and better she recommended a simple ranch for dip. Spectacular. Food was good, and reasonably priced for a bar dinner. Menu is surprisingly expansive. I had the turkey burger, which was pretty excellent, wife had the club and liked it but she said it needed bacon - but really, what isn't better with bacon?

Food is mediocre at best, service is BRUTAL. I give it one extra star because the back patio is nice. otherwise I would have given it one star. If you go to this place, just go with friends to drink and sit in the back patio.

I've given up on the service here. It has only gotten worse over the time. It's not so much unfriendly as it's just not friendly. Or efficient. Or done with a smile. Or a thank you. And the prices are too high now. And there aren't enough TVs. Guinness is legit though. Bar selection is still good. Tap selection is still decent. Wine selection is still poor. The menu is pretty big, though, and a lot of people seem to scarf down the food. I just have never been too impressed with it. It fills you up, and has decent flavor, but that's about it.

I love this place!! Okay, so I've been in Irish Puns on two continents (and a non-imperial isle), and I love pub food, good drinks. great food, and a bustling atmosphere. The food (I've tried most of it on my visits) is excellent. The service is terrific and the waitstaff very friendly and always chipper. I highly recommend Shannon's for casual get togethers, nights out alone (I travel a lot for business by myself), or for even a nice evening out (if you can get a small table by the front window, up on "the deck").

I wish I could leave a review about the food here. Unfortunately I didn't make it that far. I was greeted by a terribly rude waitress who was apparently extremely put out that I would show up looking to eat, as she remarked to someone at the bar after she left my table. I was one of two people in the restaurant and I hopelessly waited for the return of my waitress with my drink order and to presumably take my food order. Alas, she did not come back. I waited and eventually had to give up hope of being waited on by anyone. From what I could tell there was not a single staff person on the floor...they were all in the back, not helping customers. After reading plenty of bad reviews on the food and service here, I decided I should be thankful to have been given the cold shoulder and get out while I could. *Note to management - you many want to check your server schedule for who was on around 3:00 on 10/21, and unless she's family, fire the waitress that is chasing business out of your front door.

This bar is fine for a small-town bar. It certainly isn't special -- not at all. I was most disappointed that they do not have ginger ale! What bar doesn't have ginger ale!?! This means no Jameson & Ginger! Our server was well, eccentric... Over all, fine, but not someplace I'd fight to go back to!

I've been here in the past and liked it enough to come back, but was disappointed when my family stopped in for dinner last night. Service was slooow, even though there were only 4 groups there. The food was adequate, but WAY overpriced. Don't think I'll go back.

This place is awesome. Very homey atmosphere; service that is fast, reliable, and very friendly; good selection at the bar; and the food is fantastic! In particular -- the reuben rolls are possibly my favorite appetizer in the Chicagoland area, the fish and chips are outstanding, and the pepper hanger steak is hands-down the best steak I've ever had outside of a steak house. I've been to Shannon's several times just for a nice evening out with my wife, and we've also hosted parties there -- the large back room is perfect for that. The staff has always been extremely accommodating and helpful!

Went here for lunch today with some friends- Food was nothing spectacular. I had the spinach and feta salad with chicken and no dressing. It was a fairly large portion and tasted pretty good. The chicken was cooked well, but for some reason I'm not sure if the cheese was really feta. It didn't quite taste like it, but I'm not entirely sure. The other people at my table had reuben sandwiches and the potato and corned beef soup. They enjoyed the items, but again, nothing special. The service wasn't that great. Our waitress only came to our table to take our orders, give us our food, and bring the check. Also, it seemed to take quite a long time to get our order out- and there was only one other group in the restaurant.... Anyway, this is a decent place, but there are better options around GE and downtown wheaton

We stopped into Shannon's when another nearby restaurant had a pretty extensive wait. We found the service and food at Shannon's to be on par. We enjoyed the marinated flatiron steak which was very tender and flavorful. The garlic masked potatoes where very tasty and completed this comfort meal. They offered a pretty decent selection of craft beers as well. We'd go back.

Great place to hang out with friends and have a drink in a comfortable atmosphere. Has the feel of an irish pub. Great waitstaff. The food is nothing special - just regular pub food. With the homemade Chips, I recommend asking for malt vinegar which is how they are supposed to be eaten, not with the dipping sauce that they serve with it. The bangers are worth a try too. They serve steak fries with the sandwiches/burgers and I'm more of a thin fry person but they are fine. They also have trivia night on Monday nights which is fun if you are into that sort of thing. The back seating area is cozy and comfortable.

I enjoyed the food here but I could not get over having to kill about 15 flies on the window next to us. That made me lose my appetite and wonder why the place had flies in the first place. Sewage? Standing water? Who knows. So if you come to Shannon's I suggest asking for a booth away from the windows.

Nice local place to go in and have a pint. Usually a good amount of regulars there around happy hour. Not that they have a happy hour --- do they? I often went in with my computer and wrote. Service is a little spotty; there were times I would sit for way too long, waiting for my check. Bar staff is good, welcoming, accommodating. Lots of good back and forth between staff and customers. Pleasant overall. Food could be better. Never really went to Shannon's for the grub. I do like the chips, though; they're addicting.

I have never been disappointed here! Great service, cozy atmosphere and delicious food. Good beer selection as well. I've been here with just my husband, on a double date and in a large group, and every time the service has been really good. Try the Blarney Burger and make sure to order the champ as your side!

I love this place. Nothing special, nothing pretentious, just good food, the friendliest wait staff (big shout out Scott, Nikki, Kay) good beer selection. I just feel good going in here. I enjoyed the food here but I could not get over having to kill about 15 flies on the window next to us. That made me lose my appetite and wonder why the place had flies in the first place. Sewage? Standing water? Who knows. So if you come to Shannon's I suggest asking for a booth away from the windows.

  • Amanda M.

Mmmmmm!

Shannon's is like home to us. We love the sandwiches and salads and ambiance. It's not a fancy place but it's comfortable and cozy. The food is terrific.

Too crowded and the snooty bartender only attended to her regulars. Too smoky, too! Very stuck up crowd and not nice to newcomers! Cold people, food not worth it.

Crowded, double strollers, snotty service (especially the PMS barmaid) crappy food and mixed drinks are apparently far too technical for the brain-babe behind the bar! Go next door to Santa Fe. WAY BETTER IN EVERY WAY!!!!
